Wing K Lee

CEO, YTL Communications

Wing K. Lee is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, the communications arm of YTL Corporation Berhad, Malaysia’s leading infrastructure conglomerate with businesses serving 12 million customers across three continents. The company envisions a modern broadband nation enhanced by the Internet and supports technological innovation which will leapfrog Malaysia into an innovation-led economy. In November 2010, the company commercially launched ‘Yes’, Malaysia’s fastest 4G mobile Internet with converged communications services with a nationwide footprint to offer seamless connectivity. As the CEO of the company, Wing fully maximizes his expertise in innovative product development with a deep understanding of communications and consumer technologies to create and provide affordable, world-class quality products and services that improve the way people in Malaysia learn, work and play.  Prior to joining YTL Communications in 2009, Wing led next-generation mobile Internet device development at Clearwire in the United States.

Earlier, he spent 15 years at Sprint Nextel, where he held senior management positions leading product development for the Company’s WiMAX division, founded Sprint’s Innovation Lab, and drove Enterprise Architecture for the launch of the first nationwide wireless data network in the US. For his distinguished accomplishments, Wing received two of the company’s top honors – the Leadership Excellence Award (2005) and the Technology Leadership Award (2001). Wing also holds eleven U.S. Patents in wireless and distributed systems and was recognized as the Asian American Engineer of the Year during the 2002 US National Engineers Week. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Wing also holds an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

Jake Saunders

VP Forecasting, ABI Research

 

Based in Singapore, Jake Saunders is Vice President of Forecasting. He also heads ABI Research’s Asia-Pacific division. Jake brings highly developed analytical skills to the company, combined with years of expertise in the technology market research business, and a proven track record of operations management. He devotes particular attention to all China-related topics, as well as handsets, Mobile Network Operators, MVNOs, and wireless operators Vodafone, Hutchison and 3.

Jake covers a variety of economic and technological issues in the wireless connectivity, mobile broadband and satellite marketplaces, and is in particular a leading expert on the rapidly changing mobile cellular operator landscape in Asia and Europe.

 

Stuart Carlaw

Chief Research Officer, ABI Research

As Chief Research Officer, Stuart Carlaw leads ABI Research’s analyst teams covering global connectivity markets.  Stuart’s primary responsibility is the management of industry research content, and he also regularly interfaces with clients and the media.  

Prior to joining ABI Research, Stuart was a Telecommunications Technician in the British Army, and then Senior Analyst and later Wireless Research Director at IMS Research. At IMS he was the primary Bluetooth analyst, and responsible for all short range wireless research.

Stuart earned a B.Sc (Honours) in Physical Sciences and Business Management from De Montfort University.

Academus Tian

CSG Director, ZTE Wireless Operation

Mr.Tian has 12 years of telecommunications R&D, marketing and sales experience, eight of those years working overseas. Formerly Mr.Tian was the president and national manager of ZTE Philippines Inc. He has very good understanding, backed by in-depth observation, of modern telecom developments and future trends. He has helped many world-famous operators build their network. Now he is working as the CSG (Comprehensive Solution Group) Director in the wireless operation division of ZTE Co.
He holds a patent in green power source and base station collaboration, and is the head of the green mobile innovation team at ZTE. Among other contributions, the team has developed the world-leading “IPSEM green mobile network mechanism” for both vendors and operators.

Colin Chew

Sales Director, Greater China, M2M Embedded Solutions, Sierra Wireless

Colin Chew is responsible for Sierra Wireless M2M embedded business in Greater China. Mr. Chew joined Sierra Wireless from Wavecom, where he served as Marketing Director of Wavecom Asia Pacific Ltd, he was responsible for managing all Wavecom products for Asia Pacific, and organizing technology events to focus on the trends of the market. Prior to joining Wavecom, Colin held sales and marketing positions for Memec (Asia Pacific), a global semiconductor distributor. Colin also brings an engineering background to his role. He was an RFIC design engineer for IBM where his work involved RFIC design, analog IC design, customer issues support and RF testing. Prior to IBM, Colin was a product engineer for Agere Systems, a company that designs, manufactures and markets a range of wireless connectivity products.

Colin graduated with honors from the University of New South Wales in Australia, with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering.

Denis Ng

Business Development Director, Network Solutions, Comba Telecom

Mr. Denis Ng graduated from the University of Surrey (UK) with a BEng (Hons) first class in 1993, and obtained his MSc in Electrical Engineering and MBA degrees from the National University of Singapore, and the Nottingham Business School (UK) in 1997 and 2003, respectively. He has over 18 years experience in the Academia and Telecommunication industries.

He was a lecturer in Temasek Polytechnic from September 1993. In April 1998, he joined Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) and was Senior Manager responsible for GSM radio network planning and optimization. He then joined Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) in September 2001 as Technical Sales Manager, and finally to Comba Telecom Systems in April 2003. He has held a number of roles in Comba, including product marketing, sales and business development for markets in Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East, and Latin American regions. Currently, as Director of Technical Marketing and Solutions, Denis is responsible for the development of RF technical competencies within the organization and the provision of technical solutions and services to support global sales units.

Dr Shahram G Niri

NEC Europe, Director of Global LTE/SAE Strategy & Solution NEC Europe - Network Solutions Division

Dr Shahram G Niri, is a thought leader and recognized expert in the field of mobile communication technology and has worked for a number of companies such as R&D, operators and manufacturers for the past 20 years. He is currently Director of Global LTE/SAE Strategy & Solution in NEC Europe and a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey in UK. He has been an advisor and also provided consultancy to a wide range of clients such as network operators, blue chip manufacturer, regulatory bodies and R&D sectors. He holds several patents in mobile communications and has published over 50 technical papers and articles in this field in refereed international journals and conferences as well as in magazines.

Eric Zhao

Senior Director – ZTE Service Products Line

Eric Zhao graduated from Northwestern Polytechnic University majored in Computer and Information Technology. He started working in technical support for 3.5G wireless products at Fiber Home Technology Ltd before joining ZTE. Pursuing his career at ZTE since 2005, he has had managerial roles in its India Engineering Center and Services product department. His technical background and professional activities allow him to deliver ZTE project implementation, service delivery and business developments with significant improvements.

His managerial experiences are identifiable in team building, International Human Resource transition and allocation, Human Resource KPI & SOP establishment, business procedure standardization, CRM, and service transformation. His telecom market insight and business models research dramatically enhances service delivery efficiency in order to help CSP reduce TCO significantly.

Gunadi Dwi Hantoro

Manager Access Technology Deployment Plan, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia

 

Gunadi Dwi Hantoro  is the  Manager of Access Technology Deployment Plan in Access Division, part of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia. He has worked on a variety of projects, including  PHS (Personal Handyphone System), DECT, GSM, Voice-over-WLAN, 3G, WiMAX, LTE, Hotspot, and wireline technology (DSL, MSAN, DSLAM and FTTx).

Gunadi received his Degree  in electrical engineering from Institute of Telecommunication Technology in Bandung. He has also received his Magister in TELKOM from the Business University in Bandung. He has written books about Wi-Fi, cellular technology, and WiMAX ("Technology and Business of WiMAX in Indonesia", "Mobile Broadband," and "Learning WiMAX by Multimedia System.") He is also a Lecturer at the Intitute of Management Business TELKOM. He often  gives  seminars and workshops in Indonesia and abroad.

 

Jerome Meyer

Product Manager, APAC, Alcatel-Lucent

Jérôme Meyer is a Product Manager for the lightRadio™ and 3GPP RAN Product Lines of Alcatel-Lucent in Asia-Pacific.

Currently based out of Hong Kong, he joined Alcatel’s APAC Wireless Pre-Sales Team in 2005. For the first 3 years, he supported and led several major commercial end-to-end offers for GSM, WCDMA, WiMAX and LTE networks. From 2008 - 2010, he moved to Vietnam to provide better support for his major customers there.

Since 2010, Jérôme is in charge of providing customer solutions and sales support for Alcatel-Lucent’s ‘3GPP RAN’ Product Line across the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, he is helping to drive the success for the game-changing lightRadio™ portfolio, launched in February 2011.

Jérôme graduated with a Master’s degree from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées in Lyon, France.

Lior Mishan

Wavion Wireless Networks, Director of Marketing

Lior Mishan has been in the telecommunications industry for over 16 years, working in senior Marketing, Business Development and R&D positions. Lior is experience in numerous communication fields such as WiMAX, Wi-Fi, Metro transport and xDSL.  Mr. Mishan is currently working for Wavion Networks, a leading vendor of carrier grade outdoor Wi-Fi solutions. His current focus is marketing and product management.

Mark Atkinson

Nokia Siemens Networks , Head of Global TD-LTE Sales

Mark is Head of Global TD-LTE Sales for Nokia Siemens Networks. He and his team orchestrate the market-making of TD-LTE globally, working hand-in-hand with NSN regions to develop concrete customer cases and ultimately to turn TD-LTE solutions into a significant source of revenue for the company. He joined Siemens’ Mobile Networks division for the first time in 1997 and again in 2004. During his time at Siemens, he has worked in various senior sales, business development and strategy management roles, and in diverse geographic locations including South East Asia, South Africa and China. His other major experience was gained from 2001 to 2004 in the automotive industry, where he worked in a senior key account management role covering Germany and other European countries. Mark and his family have been based in Beijing, China, since the beginning of Nokia Siemens Networks in early 2007. Until 2010, he headed the Business Development (and Strategy) team in Greater China region and has significantly contributed to the region performance of over US$2 billion annually.

Paul Michael Scanlan

Vice President, Solution Sales and Marketing, South Pacific Region

• Paul Scanlan is currently Huawei’s South Pacific Regional Vice President of Solution Sales and Marketing, prior to which he was Huawei’s Regional CTO, based in Singapore. • With more than 30 years’ experience in the Telecom and IT industries, he possesses broad experience across most technologies having worked in a variety of senior capacities across Technical, Commercial, Company and Business Management, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Program Management and R&D disciplines.  He is an expert in  the Business of Telecommunications - managing of all aspects (concept to operations) of Telecommunications Operator / Service Provider businesses • In the course of his career, he has worked with numerous Fixed and Mobile Operators, vendors, SI and Consulting companies in Asia-Pacific, Africa, North America and Europe

Remus Tan

Tellabs Asia-Pacific, Market Development Manager - Mobile Network Solutions

Remus Tan is Director for Sales and Product Management for Mobile IP Solutions in Tellabs Asia Pacific. In this role, he is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities for mobile packet core gateway solutions with Tellabs SmartCore product series. He is also responsible for forging strong relationships with existing and potential customers to gain a better understanding of their mobile packet core feature requirements. Remus’ other major charters includes development of Tellabs mobile internet strategy; as well as gaining mindshare of mobile operators in the mobile packet core gateway space.Remus has more than 13 years of telecommunication industry experience. Prior to Tellabs, Remus was Director of Business Development & Sales in Axerra Networks where he was responsible for growing Axerra’s business in Southeast asia and Taiwan. Between 2000 and 2005, Remus was Senior Solution Consultant and Account Manager for CIENA where he was responsible for developing strategic business solutions to help grow their businesses in asia-pacific.

Song Ling Yang

Professor, Peking University

Lingyang Song received the B.S. degree in communication engineering from Jilin University, China in 2002 and a PhD in differential space time codes and MIMO from the University of York, UK, in 2007, where he received the K. M. Stott Prize for excellent research. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Oslo, Norway, until rejoining Philips Research UK in March 2008.   Now, he is a full professor at the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science of Peking University, China. He was a visiting research fellow at Harvard University (US) and the University of York (UK). His main research interests include adaptive signal processing, estimation and optimization theory, cognitive and collaborative communications, channel coding, wireless mesh/sensor networks, broadband wireless access and future communication systems.   He is co-inventor of a number of patents and author or co-author of over 100 journal and conference papers. He is currently on the Editorial Board of International Journal of Communications, Network and System Sciences, Journal of Network and Computer Applications, and International Journal of Smart Homes, and a guest editor of Elsevier Computer Communications and EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking. He serves as a member of Technical Program Committee and Co-chair for several international conferences and workshops. He is a member of the IEEE and IEEE ComSoc.

Stéphane Jacquelin

SIMalliance LTE Workgroup member, SIMalliance

Stéphane is currently LTE product leader at Oberthur Technologies, member of the SIM alliance. He has held various positions in LTE Product Marketing, Business Office, and Network Design in Europe and North America over the years, in network infrastructure vendors including Ericsson, Nortel and Alcatel-Lucent.   Stéphane, as a result of his experience, possesses a great deal of knowledge gained from working with mobile operators and understanding their needs and challenges in the broadband world.

Stephen Rayment

CTO, BelAir Networks

Stephen Rayment has more than 25 years of product and technology experience in the telecommunications industry -- most of that focused on wireless -- and has worked extensively with service providers deploying new wireless technologies. Previously, he led the development of broadband wireless products, the launch of broadband multimedia satcom equipment and the design of the industry's first wireless PBX at Nortel and BNR. Stephen is author of more than ten patents, and is active in industry standardization, having served as an officer of the IEEE 802.11s ESS Networking Task Group.

Zoran Spasojevic

E2E Architecture Manager, Telefonica O2UK

14 years experience in mobile telecommunications industry. Experience is predominantly in the area of radio access network and ranged across of the areas of simulation and modeling, strategy, design and RRM capacity and performance management. I am currently involved in LTE project for Telefonica O2UK  and leading the e2e QoS possible introduction in the company as well as other project involving the e2e architecture strategy
